Cookie Policy

Last updated

Our site uses a few cookies, all of them to sign you in and keep you signed in, and keeps some of your lists in your own browser. This page names every one, what it’s for and how long it lasts.

There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing on our pages lets another company set its own.

01 What cookies and browser storage are

A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to keep and send back each time you visit. Sites use cookies to remember things such as whether you’re signed in.

Browsers also give each website some storage of its own on your device, called local storage and session storage. What’s kept there isn’t sent back to the site with each visit: it stays on your device unless the page sends it on purpose. Session storage is cleared when you close the tab; local storage stays until it’s removed.

02 Cookies we set

Only what sign-in needs

Every cookie on this site is there to sign you in or keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising, analytics or social media cookies, and no other company sets cookies through our pages.

  • sb-…-auth-token

    What it’s for
Your signed-in session. It’s set when you sign in, and member pages need it. A long session is split across cookies whose names end .0, .1 and so on.
    How long
Until 30 days after your last visit, or until you close your browser if you left “Keep me signed in” unticked. Removed when you sign out.
    First or third party
    First party
  • made-browser-session

    What it’s for
Remembers that you left “Keep me signed in” unticked, so your session ends when you close your browser.
    How long
Until you close your browser or sign out.
    First or third party
    First party

A “…” in a name stands for a part that varies, such as our database’s ID. The names begin with “sb” because they’re written by software from Supabase, our sign-in provider, but our own site sets them, on our own web address, and only our site can read them. Scripts on the page can’t read any of them, and browsers send them only over encrypted connections.

03 What we keep in your browser

These are kept in your browser’s own storage for this site. They stay on your device, and nothing in them is sent to us except as described below the table.

  • made:saved-players

    What it’s for
The players you’ve saved, by their profile addresses. They make up My Board too.
    How long
Until you clear this site’s data in your browser
    First or third party
    First party
  • made:recent-players

    What it’s for
The last eight profiles you opened, so you can get back to them.
    How long
Until you clear this site’s data in your browser
    First or third party
    First party
  • made:board

    What it’s for
My Board: the order of your players, their tiers and your notes.
    How long
Until you clear this site’s data in your browser
    First or third party
    First party
  • made:portal-board

    What it’s for
The players you’ve bookmarked on College Transfers.
    How long
Until you clear this site’s data in your browser
    First or third party
    First party
  • made.editing

    What it’s for
For MADE staff only: whether edit mode is on.
    How long
Until you clear this site’s data in your browser
    First or third party
    First party
  • made:trail

    What it’s for
The list you were last looking at, with its filters, so a profile’s Back link can return you to it. Kept for every visitor.
    How long
Until you close the tab (session storage)
    First or third party

To show your saved players, your browser sends us their profile addresses; we use them to look the players up and don’t keep them. Your board notes never leave your device, so they won’t follow you to another browser, and clearing your browser’s data for this site deletes them.

04 What we don’t use

  • No advertising, and no one else’s trackers. There are no analytics or advertising cookies, and no tracking pixels or tracking scripts from other companies. Our own usage records, which the Privacy Policy describes, use no cookies or browser storage.
  • Nothing from other companies on our pages. No scripts, embedded videos or social media widgets. The one exception: when error reporting is turned on, our pages send error reports to Sentry, as the Privacy Policy explains. Sentry sets no cookies.
  • Our own fonts. Our fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn’t contact Google or any other font service.
  • Plain links out. The MADE Hoops logo in our footer, which goes to madehoops.com, and the Instagram, X, YouTube and TikTok icons are ordinary links. Those sites only learn of your visit if you follow one, and then their own cookie policies apply.

We don’t act on Do Not Track signals. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, though, we don’t record the pages you view or what you click while you’re signed out. What the signal means for selling and sharing is set out in our Privacy Policy’s California privacy rights.

05 Your choices

Because every cookie here is needed to sign in, there’s no cookie banner to accept or decline. You still have control:

  • Keep me signed in. Leave it unticked when you sign in, and your session ends when you close your browser.
  • Sign out. Signing out removes your session cookies.
  • Your browser’s settings let you see, delete and block cookies, and clear a site’s storage; its help pages explain how. If you block our cookies you won’t be able to sign in, and clearing this site’s data also deletes your saved players, recent players and My Board.

06 Changes to this policy

If we ever add a cookie or storage that isn’t needed for the site to work, such as analytics, we’ll update this policy first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it. The date at the top shows when the policy last changed.

Questions about cookies are welcome. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information more broadly, and our Data Policy covers the information we hold about players.
