MADE Hoops policies
Data Policy
Last updated
MADE Hoops’ scouting platform holds information about tens of thousands of basketball players, most of them high school students. This policy explains what we hold about them, where it comes from, how our evaluations are made, who can see each part, and how a player or parent can have something corrected or removed.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the information on the platform about:
- high school players, most of them under 18, whose profiles come from MADE Hoops’ own work; and
- college players in men’s Division I, whose rosters and statistics come from public sources and a data provider.
It’s written for players and parents as much as for the coaches who use the platform. Our Privacy Policy covers personal information in general, including what we collect from people who use the site, and our Terms of Service set the rules members agree to.
What we hold about players
High school players
- Basics: name, class (year of graduation), position, height and weight, and hometown.
- Our evaluation: ratings, a scouting note, strengths and weaknesses, attribute badges, the player’s rank in their class and how it has moved, and marks such as MADE alumni and EYBL.
- Teams and events: high school, club and AAU teams, and the MADE events the player has played in, with the team, jersey number, height, weight and school listed at each one.
- Recruiting: the college the player has committed to, and the colleges listed on their madehoops.com profile, which we show as colleges the player listed, not as offers.
- Reports and intel: scouting reports and news items from MADE scouts, such as commitments, transfers, agency signings, official measurements and reclassifications.
- Health: injuries, surgeries, illness and recovery, where a scouting report, note or intel item mentions them. Members read these as part of the player’s evaluation.
- Media: headlines of madehoops.com articles that mention the player, social media usernames and a photo.
- Private details, for MADE staff only: the player’s email address and phone number, date of birth as the player or family reported it, GPA and academic status, and the names, email addresses and phone numbers of parents, guardians and other key contacts, such as high school and AAU coaches, trainers and agents. Agents’ names are the exception: Gold and Platinum members see them.
We chose not to bring over some of what madehoops.com holds, including home addresses, zip codes, clothing sizes, documents, identity checks and camp contacts. A few other fields from madehoops.com, such as a player’s website or mission statement, are stored but never shown.
The platform covers boys’ and men’s basketball. Girls’ profiles that came with madehoops.com’s data are kept but never shown anywhere on the platform.
College players
- Roster details since the 2020-21 season: name, jersey number, position, height and weight, and hometown, with its place on a map.
- Statistics for the 2025-26 season, including box scores and lineups.
- Transfer portal entries, with eligibility and years remaining.
- High school recruits committed to Division I programs: their school, their college and their hometown, with its place on a map.
- Photos from schools’ official roster pages.
We also hold star ratings published by other recruiting services, which we don’t show.
Where it comes from
- madehoops.com, MADE Hoops’ main website. Players and parents set up profiles there, and our scouts publish ratings, rankings, reports and intel there. The site also keeps the rosters of MADE events. We copied its database in October 2026, and we plan to keep the two in step with regular updates.
- Parents’ own accounts. Parents’ names and contact details come from their madehoops.com accounts linked to the player. We leave out links to coaches, agents and our own staff, and any link our staff have found to be wrong.
- CollegeBasketballData.com, a data provider, for college rosters, statistics, recruits and transfer portal entries.
- Schools’ official athletics websites, for college players’ photos. A few come from earlier copies of those pages kept by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.
- ESPN and NCAA.com, for school logos.
- Players and families, when they send us corrections.
How ratings, rankings and reports are made
- Ratings. MADE scouts rate high school players from 0 to 10 in eleven areas: overall, shooting, ball skills, passing, rebounding, finishing, basketball IQ, defense, athleticism, motor and growth potential. They’re our scouts’ judgments, not measurements, and they can change as a player develops.
- Rankings. MADE ranks players within each high school class. Our staff set the rankings and revise them over time, and each profile keeps its ranking history.
- Scouting notes, reports and intel. These are written by MADE scouts and show the scout’s name. Intel items report news such as commitments, transfers and agency signings.
- Fit scores. On Roster Management, Platinum members see scores for how well a player in the transfer portal fits what a team has lost. They’re calculated automatically from the player’s statistics last season, compared with the rest of Division I.
- Name matches. When a college player has exactly the same name and class as a high school profile, we link the two, and the page says it’s a name match. A name match can be wrong.
All of these are opinions and estimates at a point in time. They aren’t facts about a player, and they don’t predict or promise anything about a player’s future.
Who sees what
Visitors, and members whose organization doesn’t have a plan, see previews:
- High school list: each player’s name, class and photo, and the rank of each class’s top three. A name search reaches every player listed. Everything else in the preview is a blurred stand-in, not real information.
- Rankings: each class’s top three, with their rank and movement, name, photo, position, height, AAU team, high school, college commitment and MADE alumni mark.
- College list: each player’s name, jersey number, years on a Division I roster, and photo.
- Everything else, including reports, Roster Management and the board on our home page, shows stand-ins rather than real information. Full profiles are never open to visitors, and we ask search engines not to index the previews.
Members see what their organization’s plan includes, and each plan includes everything in the one before it:

What’s taken out. For everyone but staff, we remove phone numbers, email addresses and the names we have on file for players’ parents and key contacts from notes, reports and intel before they reach anyone’s browser. Agents’ names are the exception: Gold and Platinum members see them. Search runs on the same edited text, so it can’t find what’s been removed. This is done automatically, so it can miss something written in an unusual way, or a name we don’t have on file. If you spot one, tell us and we’ll take it out.
Downloads. Members can download some lists, such as rankings and transfer lists, as spreadsheet (CSV) files, under our Terms of Service.
Photos
- High school players’ photos come from their madehoops.com profiles. A player’s photo appears with their name and class in the public previews, and members see it too.
- College players’ photos come from schools’ official roster pages and belong to the schools. We show them to identify players, including in the public college preview.
- How they’re sent. Photos go out only through our own server, which checks every request, and they’re never kept in a public cache. A browser that has already shown a photo may keep its own copy for up to a week.
- Removing a photo. A player, a parent or guardian, or the school or photographer who owns a photo can ask us to remove it through our contact form. Like other changes to a profile, a removal lasts only once the photo is off madehoops.com too (see Corrections and removals).
Contact details stay with staff
Players’ email addresses and phone numbers, their dates of birth, GPAs and academic status, and the names and contact details of their parents, guardians and key contacts are private details. Only MADE staff can see them.
- Members never see them, on any plan, and they’re never in the previews.
- Our server shows them in one place only, a player’s Bio tab, and only to staff.
- Every time a staff member opens them, the platform records who looked, at which player, at which details and when.
- Agents’ contact details stay with staff too, even though Gold and Platinum members see agents’ names. Notes, reports and intel are edited automatically, as described under Who sees what.
- Players’ social media usernames aren’t private details: members see them on the player’s profile.
Corrections and removals
Players and parents
To have a profile hidden or removed, or for a copy of what we hold, use our contact form and choose Privacy or data request. To fix a mistake, choose Player profile correction. Tell us the player’s name, class and school, and what you’d like us to do.
Players, parents and guardians can ask us to:
- correct something on a profile that’s wrong or out of date;
- remove a photo;
- hide a high school player’s profile, which takes it out of search, rankings, the previews and members’ pages, together with the reports and intel tagged to it;
- delete a player’s information, including their private details; or
- get a copy of what we hold about the player.
How to ask. In the contact form, choose Player profile correction for a mistake or Privacy or data request for anything else, or email us at info@madehoops.com. We may ask you to confirm that you’re the player, or their parent or guardian. Schools and photographers can ask about photos they own the same way.
What to expect. We’ll reply as soon as we can, and within 45 days, or within 90 days if we let you know within those 45 days that we need more time and why. A change shows across the platform within about ten minutes of our making it, though a browser that has already shown the player’s photo may keep its own copy for up to a week.
What lasts. A hidden profile stays hidden when we update our data from madehoops.com. Most of a high school profile comes from madehoops.com, though, so a correction, a removed photo or a deletion made only here can be undone by our next update from there. A change lasts once it’s made on madehoops.com as well, and until then we keep the profile hidden if you’ve asked us to remove it. College players can’t be hidden yet, and our next update from our data provider would bring back a college player we’d deleted. Ask us and we’ll tell you what we can do.
Evaluations. If you think a rating, ranking or report is wrong, tell us why and we’ll take another look. The evaluation itself is our scouts’ judgment and stays our call. If you’d rather the profile weren’t on the platform at all, ask us to hide or delete it.
Accuracy
We work to keep player information right, but some of it is reported by players and families, some goes out of date as soon as a player grows or changes teams, and some is matched automatically. In particular:
- dates of birth, heights and weights may be as the player or family reported them;
- the colleges on a high school profile are the ones the player listed, not offers; and
- a link between a high school profile and a college player is a name match, which can be wrong.
Coaches should confirm anything important before relying on it, within their recruiting rules. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
How long we keep it
We haven’t set a fixed period for player information. A player’s record stays useful through a career, from high school into college, so we keep profiles while the platform covers the player, and hide or delete them when asked.
- Deleting a player removes their private details, contacts, ratings and the rest of their profile from the platform. We also review the reports and intel that mention them. Deletion lasts once the player is off madehoops.com too (see Corrections and removals).
- The lists of Division I recruits and transfer portal entries from our data provider keep their own entries, by name.
- Records of staff viewing private details stay, but no longer say which player.
- For backups and development, we keep full copies of our database, and of the madehoops.com data it was built from, on our own encrypted computers. We keep them for 24 months, so a deleted record can stay in them until then.
Security
Player information has the protections set out in our Privacy Policy, including:
- browsers can’t reach our database: every request goes through our server, which checks the viewer’s plan first;
- a preview never contains the real information behind its blur;
- private details are visible only to staff, and every view of them on the platform is recorded;
- photos are sent only after a check, and never from a public cache; and
- the full copies we keep for backups and development, private details included, stay on our own encrypted computers and are never shared.
If a breach exposes player information, we’ll notify the families affected and the authorities as the law requires.
How members and schools may use the data
Members’ use of player information is governed by our Terms of Service. The main rules:
- Use it only for your own program’s scouting and recruiting.
- Keep it, and your login, within your program’s staff.
- Don’t publish, sell or pass it on, including to other schools, recruiting or scouting services, agents or the media.
- Don’t scrape it, copy it in bulk, or use it to build another database or train an AI model.
- Keep downloaded files secure, use them only inside your program and delete them when your plan ends.
- Follow the recruiting rules of the NCAA and your other governing bodies. Nothing on the platform is permission to contact a player or a family (see Recruiting rules).
- Treat what you learn about players, most of them minors, with care.
